Praise for "Newry Town" and the Beggarmen
"This is a perfect driving CD....fantastic music! [The Beggarmen] play a wonderful style of music."
Grace McKinley - Celtic Heartland
"This hard-charging area quintet has been stirring up a passionate, crowd-pleasing whirlwind of traditional and "in-the-tradition" Celtic Folk. With the recent completed "Newry Town" the group's beautifully recored follow-up to 2005's "I Shall," The Beggamen present a gossamer collection...mixing traditional, contemporary and original tunes." The Beggarwho?
The Beggarmen are an Iowa City-based quartet of traditional Celtic musicians comprised of Brad Pouleson, Keith Reins, and Joseph and Tara Dutcher.
The band find their roots in the traditional music of Ireland and other Celtic regions. The Beggarmen supplement the rich variety of traditional tunes with their own original music. All of the Beggarmen lend their voices as well as their fine playing to the mix.
You can find the Beggarmen performing all over Iowa and Chicagoland. Their first album "I Shall" was released in June 2005 and is available online at cdbaby.com and iTunes along with their second album "Newry Town", released July 2007. Our Iowa City Beggarfans can also find "I Shall" and "Newry Town" at a number of independent stores, including Textiles, The Artisan's Gallery and Record Collector in Iowa City.
The Beggarmen are also available for weddings and special events. E-mail for more details: thebeggarmen@yahoo.com
